Gone but Not Forgotten: The Flash

I loved The Flash when it was first broadcast on TV back in the 90’s, there was something I found very appealing about a serious attempt to do a live-action superhero TV series.

Around 2 years ago I picked up the TV series on DVD and I’ve only just recently finished re-watching it, in hindsight I think the producers were a little too ambitious with what they could with their budget and special effects technology at the time.

This isn’t to say the series was bad but it tended to avoid special effects whenever possible and most of the villains in the series were kind of bland and ordinary, I did really like the production design for the series, it’s set along with the lighting gave The Flash a very distinctive look.

I guess now in the era of superhero movies it’s extremely unlikely there will be another live-action Flash TV series which I think is a real shame since with the advances in special effects technology you could do a character like The Flash and his Rogues Gallery justice

I still like The Flash TV series but even back then with a little more money to help with production it could’ve been an outstanding piece of television.

On the subject of Dr Who, I have to say, maybe I’m just a bigger David Tennant fan than a DW fan but I really didn’t care for the most recent season. I did really like Amy, but most the episodes seemed like bad re-hashes of episodes I’d already seen.
